Cathance River Corridor Heritage Trail
This trail network features a variety of trails best suited for hikers looking for great scenery and a little more of a challenge. Trails can be very steep and partially overgrown in some sections. A new bridge for pedestrians is in the process of being constructed across the Cathance River. This will connect the trails to the trails managed to the Cathance River Nature Preserve, managed by the Cathance River Education Alliance.
For more information, see the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust website.
Directions
If heading into Topsham from Brunswick on the Frank Wood Bridge (green bridge across the Androscoggin), continue north on 201. At the first light, take a right on Rt. 24. Continue for approximately three miles and take a left on Cathance Rd. (just after a graveyard on your right). For the first trailhead, take a left on Beechwood Drive (at the yellow water tower), and enter the trail on your right, just after you cross the railroad tracks. For the second trailhead, continue on Cathance Road until you reach a bridge across the Cathance River. Here, parking is available at the Head of Tide Park. The trailhead is on the right, 150 ft. up the road (back toward Rt. 24), just as the road begins to straighten.
