The Swinging Bridge
Built in 1892, this pedestrian bridge connects the towns of Topsham and Brunswick as well as the Sagadahoc and Cumberland counties. It is an integral part of the region’s history as it was built to accommodate the cotton mill employees living in Topsham. The Topsham Land company hired John A. Roebling’s Sons Company - the firm that designed the Brooklyn Bridge of New York to work on this project.
