Welcome to the Topsham Police Department

About Us

The Topsham Police Department is located at 100 Main Street, Topsham. Officers provide law enforcement services to a population of approximately 8,850 people on a 24-hour basis.

The Town of Topsham covers an area of roughly 35 square miles. Officers in the Patrol Division respond to calls for service requests throughout the communities many residential and business districts. Officers also patrol over approximately 100 miles of roads to proactively deter criminal activity and violations of law. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) actively investigates all crimes, and suspicious activity that may lead to a crime, within our community. Our CID works cooperatively with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) in efforts to address the continuing infiltration of illegal drugs. The department also provides a School Resource Officer to our high school campus, and an officer that splits their duties between both Traffic Safety and Animal Control. All officers work within the community policing philosophy to keep our community safe and take appropriate enforcement action when violations of law occur.

Contacting Emergency Services or Our Police Department

9-1-1
Always dial 9-1-1 for police emergencies (such as life threatening emergencies or crimes in progress).  If you’re not sure your call is an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 9-1-1 right away.

Don’t call 9-1-1 for Non-Emergency situations such as weather or road conditions; power outages (Call CMP at 1-800-696-1000); loud party or music, animal calls, directions or general information.

Non-Emergencies
Call our Department at 725-4337 for Non-Emergencies.  When our Reception Office is closed, or if our phone lines are busy, you will hear a voice attendant message and directed to press 1 to reach the Sagadahoc County Communications Center (Dispatchers) to make a non-emergency request for police assistance or if you need to speak with an on-duty police officer.  For other calls you will be offered to hear a directory of names of department personnel to contact or you may leave a voice mail in the general mailbox that will be received on the next work day morning, or as soon as our phone lines are open.
