Welcome to the Solid Waste Facility
About Us
The Solid Waste Facility collects and processes Topsham residents’ recycling and garbage. It has a staff of three full-time employees and two part-timers. It includes a Transfer Station, which handles about 1000 tons of municipal waste (MSW) per year, and a Recycling Center. The Recycling Center processes around 1000 tons of recyclable material, such as glass, plastic, paper, wood chips, and waste/cooking oil, per year. Paint, lithium-ion and NiCad batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and other Universal Waste can be recycled at the Station.
Additionally, the Solid Waste Facility participates biannually in Household Hazardous Waste Days, where they collect and properly dispose of materials such as pesticides. We also help manage recreational facilities at the transfer station such as the pump track and trails.
In an effort to minimize risk of COVID-19 exposure to the public and our Transfer Station employees, please follow the most recent State Guidelines for outdoor exposure.
**PLEASE NOTE - THE TOPSHAM SOLID WASTE FACILITY IS AVAILABLE TO TOPSHAM RESIDENTS ONLY!
Thank you for your support!
